Recycling goes to the movies

“We made the first movie with the aim of showing how easy it is use newspaper to line food waste caddies and keep these clean for our SORT IT collections”, said Strategy and Communications Team Leader, David Mansell. “Making a short movie for this proved much easier than expected and so I went on to make two more, showing how our food waste is recycled and how our new SORT IT PLUS collections operate”.

All three movies have been published for free on You Tube and on the Partnership's website at: www.somersetwaste.gov.uk

“Within days we had 100 viewings and evidence that viewers were circulating links to them to online friends”, David continued. “We hope many more local people will view these movies, especially those who would like advice on using newspaper to line their kitchen caddies and those who would like to see how things work in recycling behind the scenes. Having got a taste for movie production, I’m sure we will do more in future and continue to develop our online presence. Encouraged by the interest on our website and You Tube, we have also now set-up a page for Somerset Waste Partnership on Facebook.”
