Following successful trials, Somerset Waste Partnership is rolling out new SORT IT PLUS collections to all districts in Somerset.
View the movie above to see the operation of the new single pass recycling collection vehicle for SORT IT PLUS, which provides a weekly kerbside service for food waste, paper, card, glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles, drinks and food cans, foil, clothing, shoes and car batteries. These weekly recycling collections are provided alongside a fortnightly service for refuse, with wheeled bins provided where housing is suitable.
The planned timetables for rolling out SORT IT PLUS throughout each Somerset district are as follows:
Mendip – autumn 2010 to spring 2011;
Sedgemoor – underway and to be completed autumn 2010;
South Somerset – autumn 2010 to spring 2011;
Taunton Deane – underway and to be completed autumn 2010;
West Somerset – autumn 2011 with completion in early 2012.
