Household Waste Recycling Centres in Somerset
- New life for old books, cds, dvds and videos. SWP and Viridor are working with the British Heart Foundation (BHF) as a trial to collect these materials from the Dulcote, Coleford and Street Household Waste Recycling Centres. This new venture will see reusable items sold in local shops, with non reusable items being sent for recycling. Please only deposit retail pre-recorded cds, dvds and videos. - Household Waste Recycling Centres open from 9am to 5pm in winter months (October to April inclusive) and 9am to 7pm in summer months (May to September inclusive). All sites are closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
- Plasterboard - From April 1st 2009 changes to legislation mean that plasterboard will be processed in a different way. As a result there will be designated HWRC's that take plaster board. These are Frome, Priorswood, Street, Highbridge, Saltlands, Yeovil and Williton. Please do not take plasterboard to any other HWRCs - it will not be accepted.
- Hazardous Waste - Sometimes you may need to dispose of items that could be harmful to people or the environment. This is classed as Hazardous Waste. Household hazardous waste might include paint, thinner and garden chemicals. All HWRC's have facilities to dispose of these. Please let site staff know and they will help you. Asbestos needs to be treated separately and can only be taken to HWRC's with the facilities to store it. These sites are for household
waste only.

Commercial waste should not be taken to Household Waste Recycling Centres. You may deposit waste at the sites in vans and trailers, as long as the waste is from your own home. If you use a van or trailer you may be asked to complete a 'Household Waste Declaration Form' confirming that you are not depositing trade waste.
