Clinical Waste Collections in Somerset
The Council provides a clinical waste collection to private households. Clinical waste is any waste which poses a threat of infection to humans. The term also includes drugs, sharps or other pharmaceutical products.

What is clinical waste?

It means any waste which consists wholly or partly of:

  • human or animal tissue;
  • blood or bodily fluids;
  • drugs or other pharmaceutical products;
  • swabs or dressings; or;
  • syringes, needles or other sharp instruments;

There is no charge for removal of clinical waste from domestic properties.

To request collection of clinical waste contact your local Council's Customer Services Team.
